I shared precious moments today with a courageous and beautiful woman who has recently lost her dear mother. I felt deeply moved by the conversation and the reminder of the incredible journey that grief takes us on. Our exchange touched on the comfort of being with nature and it’s extraordinary healing powers, especially when emotions are raw.
I headed home via the churchyard to be with my dad’s memorial tree, to give him the biggest hug and to send love out to those in bereavement. As I embraced the solid Linden Tree, I glanced up at the golden bauble I’d placed there at Christmas. It was glinting in the sun from a branch above me. I found myself filled with a sense of hope and trust in a shiny new tomorrow, and some poetic words began to unfold……..and music too……
Here are the words (music to be worked on with Cydnei B in due course):
“The Linden Tree”
When I’m irritated or anxious…..
I drink linden tea…..
I relax, and I think of you
When I seek comfort and encouragement…
I close my eyes….
And you support me in my dreams of you
When I travel to other lands….
I open my heart….
And I am guided as I walk with you
